Welcome to the Cadman Elementary School Website!
Dear Families,
My name is Jeff Friedenberg, and I’m thrilled for the privilege to serve the Cadman community as your next Principal. It’s an honor to follow in the footsteps of Principal Trousdale and carry on the legacy of excellence for which Cadman is known. She has truly earned all the great things to come in retirement. As I’m new this year, please allow me this opportunity to introduce myself.
My wife and I live up in Poway with our three kids who will be in 4th grade, 2nd grade, and TK next year. I grew up in Poway, and it’s where I started my career in education as a 1:1 instructional aide for a student on the autism spectrum alongside my mom, a Special Education Teacher for 25 years. From there I began teaching 6th grade at the same middle school I attended as a kid. It was so fun working with teachers who also knew me as a student.
After 11 years in the classroom, I began my journey in administration serving as an Assistant Principal for a dual-language (English/Spanish) TK-8 school in Escondido for two years before becoming an elementary school Principal in both Poway and San Diego Unified for the past five years. I’m honored to have been chosen by the Cadman community and look forward to all the fun to come in the 2025-2026 school year.
When I’m not Principal’ing, you can find me coaching little league, working in my rose and vegetable gardens, BBQ’ing or smoking brisket in the backyard, at a Padres or SDFC game, volunteering as a docent at Torrey Pines Natural State Reserve, or trying out the newest foodie spot.
Cadman Elementary is a small neighborhood school in the community of Clairemont in San Diego. A family atmosphere has been created and maintained at our school between parents, students, staff, and community members. We value and strive to continually build relationships with families and the community to positively impact our students. There exists a wonderful blend of students reflective of our city’s diversity which helps us learn to respect each other and work/play harmoniously.
This is a truly special campus with incredible opportunities for our students: gardening, cooking, dance, student leadership, VAPA, and instrumental music, in addition to an exceptionally talented group of dedicated educators.
